Brother SE400 Vs PE500

If you’re looking for a sewing machine then there is a chance that you have come across the company Brother. We have talked about another sewing machine comparison between Singer 7258 vs Brother CD6000i. As we know, Brother are an incredibly popular brand, and produce two very similar sewing machines, the SE400 and the PE500, and choosing between the two can be a difficult task. They both offer similar functionality although there are several key differences.

Brother SE400 vs PE500

The PE400 is purely an embroidery machine, where as the SE500 is a combination embroidery and sewing machine. This means that, immediately, if you want to both sew and embroider, then the SE500 is the better machine. Both machines offer a 4×4 embroidery area, 70 built in designs, 5 lettering fonts, and 120 built in frame patterns. The work spaces on both machines are also backlit making your sewing and embroidering a much easier task than ever before.

They both can also be connected to a computer which means that you can download embroidery patterns using the .pes file system that has become the industry standard, and use them through the machine, making your embroidering jobs very straight forward and allowing you to keep the software on both machines updated regularly.
However, if you just want to embroider then there is a concern over pricing. The SE400 has more functionality but it is also much more expensive, so in that respect the PE500 might be the better investment, especially for a beginner. The SE400 is slightly heavier than the PE500, at 23.8 lb compared to 22 lb.
