Oppo doesn’t update their Blu-ray player lines very often, which suggests the high quality of their products. The reality is, if customers are satisfied with Oppo’s devices overall, then there is no need for them to change anything. Oppo first released the Oppo BDP-103 a few years ago, back in 2012, with raving reviews.
So, why would they make the rare move to update their Oppo BDP-103 to the Oppo BDP-103D? The differences between the two devices are clear. In my Oppo BDP 103 vs 103D review, I found out why the 103D sold on high price while most Blu-ray players sold for only $99 or less and while the 103 sold for a mere $599. For starters, lets talk about what the “D” in the 103D represent. The 103D has all the amenities of the 103 with the addition of the Darbee processor. The Darbee processor doesn’t just scale or enhance the video quality. It uses an algorithm which takes video data, analyzes the imagery, detects the light vs dark areas, and alters specific luminance pixels. This creates an incredibly heightened visual depth that is unseen on most normal Blu-ray devices, including the 103. Read also : Oppo BDP-103 Vs 105.
This level of high resolution is unmatched among the standard Blu-ray players on the market. Darbee processing makes colors pop with a brilliance that inspires the imagination. Also, 3D imagery explodes on the screen of Oppo BDP-103D device users at a level that simply isn’t reached on the 103 devices. Yet, even with this distinct difference in picture quality between the 103 and the 103D, most Blu-ray buyers could care less about the vastness of image quality. Most people, according to studies, would rather purchase the much lower-priced BDP 103.

Conclusion
In conclusion, should you get the much higher-priced BDP 103D over the BDP 103? Well, that’s depending upon your budget. Most customers who own the lower cost 103 are more than satisfied with their product. Both devices perform equally but if you want that extra picture quality, go for the 103D. You’ll be amazed just like the thousand’s of other who made the same decision.
