If you are looking for a vacuum cleaner robot with a budget of under four hundred bucks, most probably, you are currently torn between iRobot Roomba 614 and iRobot Roomba 650. These vacuum robots are available under four hundred dollars each, and the price gap that separates them is not necessarily large. iRobot Roomba 614 is, as you may have guessed, the cheaper one, while iRobot Roomba 650 is the slightly more expensive one. Even so, the two seem almost completely identical to each other. So, should you pick iRobot Roomba 614 or iRobot Roomba 650? (Please read also: iRobot Roomba 650 Vs 770)
Design
In terms of design, the two products are nearly identical. They have the same overall sizes. Both are typically circular, much like many other vacuum cleaner robots. Both are also dominantly black in color, with a yellow inner circle on the body of each. They weigh quite similarly as well.
However, we can see that iRobot Roomba 650 features more buttons on top of it compared to iRobot Roomba 614. Whereas the lower model only has Spot, Clean, and Dock buttons at the center, the higher model comes with extra buttons labeled Schedule, Clock, Day, Hour, and Minute. These buttons indeed have something to do with additional features.
Features
The great thing about iRobot Roomba 614 and iRobot Roomba 650 is that they are capable of automatically detecting the floor type and adjusting the cleaning settings accordingly. This is very convenient, as you won’t have to handle things yourself every time the robot moves to a different surface. They can also automatically return to their dock to recharge when their battery level is low.
Both models are also armed with the iAdapt Navigation system, which uses a suite of sensors to navigate smartly and adapt to your ever-changing home. They rely on the 3-Stage Cleaning System technology, which combines agitation, brushing, and suction to deliver optimum cleaning performance.
However, iRobot Roomba 614 does not support scheduling. So, you need to activate the robot yourself every time you need some cleaning. On the other hand, iRobot Roomba 650 has the scheduling feature, which allows you to schedule up to 7 cleaning sessions for a week. This is very convenient, as the robot will be able to take care of your home even when you are not there.
