Silhouette Cameo 3 has 210 grams cutting force, which is strong also, allowing the model to effortlessly handle paper, cardstock, vinyl, fabric, and many other materials. Silhouette Cameo 3 is compatible with the self-adjusting AutoBlade, which is very handy, able to automatically adapt to the type of material being handled.

Both models come with dual carriage heads that allow them to quickly switch through different tools, effectively allowing you to work faster. Both also come with built-in Bluetooth that allows wireless operation. However, Cricut Explore Air’s software, Cricut Design Space, requires an Internet connection to work. Silhouette Cameo 3’s software, Silhouette Studio Designer, is usable without any Internet connection. Silhouette Cameo 3 also comes with a touchscreen for easy, intuitive control, and boasts the PixScan Technology.

If you want to have the extra cutting power that allows you to handle even any material like leather, aluminum, or even chipboard, then Cricut Explore Air should be your choice. However, if you only work with thinner materials like papers and fabrics, then Silhouette Cameo 3 makes a better value for the money.
