Simply Calphalon Vs Select Calphalon

Calphalon’s nonstick cookware products are widely considered as high-quality items. They can be quite expensive, but they are worth the money. They hold up very well if maintained properly, and they offer superior cooking performance. However, the company has released several different models that offer different features. Below, we will compare Simply Calphalon vs Select Calphalon. The two models seem to be similar. However, the two models actually have different coatings. Continue reading below for the detailed comparisons between Simply Calphalon and Select Calphalon.

Construction and Coating
Unlike Calphalon Unison vs Signature in our previous article, both Simply Calphalon and Select Calphalon cookware items feature a medium-gauge hard-anodized aluminum core. The signature construction offers superior conductivity and even heating. Aluminum is a relatively lightweight material, so most home cooks can use these items quite easily. Aluminum is also able to distribute heat quickly and evenly across the surface, ensuring good cooking performance. Both Simply Calphalon and Select Calphalon cookware items are suitable for various stove tops, including gas, electric flat top, electric coil, halogen, and glass ceramic.

However, the two models seem to use different coatings. Simply Calphalon features an interior side that is double coated to create a reliable and durable non-stick cooking surface. In general, Simply Calphalon’s coating is more durable than Select Calphalon’s coating.

On the other hand, Select Calphalon is actually available in two different versions, which are non-ceramic and ceramic. Both versions are non-stick. However, the non-ceramic version seems to have better non-stick performance, whereas the ceramic version tends to be a little bit sticky depending on the type of the food you are cooking. The non-ceramic version is PFOA-free, whereas the ceramic version is PFOA-free and PTFE-free.

Both Simply Calphalon and Select Calphalon have to be washed by hands. They are not dishwasher-safe. If you clean them using a dishwasher, they will quickly lose their non-stick coats. Both are oven-safe up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Both models are equipped with the Stay-Cool Comfort Grip handles. The handle of Simply Calphalon is contoured, designed to provide the best comfort to the user. The core is cast stainless steel, but it is layered with silicone to make the handle stay cool when cooking.

Select Calphalon also feature the Stay-Cool Comfort Grip handle, but the handle is relatively shorter. In addition, the front end of the handle is V-shaped to connect to the pan on two points. Such design allows better weight distribution in addition to the more stylish look.

Finally, when choosing between Simply Calphalon vs Select Calphalon, consider the warranty. First and foremost, these models are not dishwasher-safe, so the warranty may go void if you insist on cleaning them using a dishwasher. Simply Calphalon is given a 10-year warranty. On the other hand, Select Calphalon is only given a 5-year warranty.
