Sodastream Pure vs Source

Mention the word Sodastream and many people conjure images of tacky, plastic appliances from the 80’s that gather dust in kitchen cupboards and seldom see the light of day, but recently these quirky machines are making a comeback, with overhauled styling and the promise of cheap soda in this cash strapped economy. But with a large choice of models, which one offers the best value while still looking good on the kitchen counter? After the comparison between Sodastream Fountain Jet Vs Genesis, on this post we are going to take a closer look at two machines; Sodastream Pure vs Source.

Sodastream Pure vs Source

Taking a glance at the spec sheets, these two machines look very similar, the main differences to be found only in their appearance and price tags, but upon closer inspection, these differences can make for a tricky decision. Firstly we have the Sodastream Pure, a minimalist appliance that would look at home in any modern kitchen. The slim design seeks to blend in, standing out subtly with only its brushed metal casing. Despite its minimalist appearance, the Sodastream Pure demands a higher price due to its more elaborate construction and high quality finish.

Second is the Sodastream Source. As the name suggests, this unit is based on the more squared style of its predecessors but with an updated design to give it a lasting appeal. This particular model is made to be noticed and with a selection of bright colors and finishes, it does just that. With this large selection of finishes, it would look right at home in any kitchen, modern or traditional. The Sodastream Source’s finishes include plastic in four bold colors, brushed metal and two wooden finishes.

If you are looking for value, the Sodastream Source is the obvious choice, providing you pick the plastic or metal finishes. The wooden finish however demands a hefty premium, making it more expensive than the higher quality Sodastream Pure model. If price is not an issue, Sodastream Pure is the more stylish option, with its svelte, slim resign and smooth curves versus the Sodastream Source’s more squared appearance. The Sodastream Source however is the only model to feature a wood finish, lending itself more to the traditional kitchen. Of the two, the winner of this duel has to be the Sodastream Source, with a metal finish. Offering modern design with a reasonable price tag, this machine gives you the best of both worlds when it comes to design and affordability.
